Hand-coloring photography is an old technique used before color photographs. Transparent oil paints and pencils are applied directly onto a black and white photograph. The blacks and grays of the photograph provide a contrast to the soft colors. The result is a unique, one of a kind work of art.
These collections are a combination of new and old photographs taken in the Rocky Mountains - some are hand-colored reproductions of Fred Clatworthy photographs from the early-mid 1900's.
